11 killed, 32 injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine in past 24 hours

According to local authorities, 11 people were killed and 32 were injured in Russian strikes over the past day. The Air Force reported that they were able to shoot down 15 Shahed-type drones and one Kh-59 guided missile out of the 23 that were launched by Russia overnight on Sept. 8. Two Russian drones were also lost on Ukrainian territory, possibly due to electronic warfare tactics.

The drones were reportedly launched from Oblast and Cape in Russian-occupied Crimea. In addition, four Kh-59 were launched from Belgorod Oblast. To defend against the air attack, Ukrainian forces used mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare units. Air defense systems were activated in Odesa, Kharkiv, and Dnipro oblasts.

In Oblast, three people were killed in the town of Kostiantynivka, one in the village of Petrivka, and another in the village of . At least 11 people were injured in the oblast, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin. In Sumy Oblast, a man was injured in the Hlukhiv by first-person-view (FPV) drones, guided aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems.

The Sumy community was also targeted by , resulting in two deaths and four injuries, including two children. In the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast, two women, aged 73 and 81, were killed in the Russian attacks. Five people, including a child, were injured. In Kherson Oblast, settlements were attacked by Russia, including the regional center of Kherson. One person was killed and nine were injured in these strikes.

In Oblast, the Myrove and Marhanets communities of the Nikopol district were attacked with artillery, resulting in the death of a 76-year-old woman and injuries to two women, aged 60 and 62, according to Governor Serhii Lysak.
