A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit Romania, causing tremors to be felt in Moldova and Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast. Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that the earthquake registered at 2-4 points on the intensity scale in southern Odesa Oblast, with tremors also being felt in other districts. Fortunately, there was no reported damage. The Romanian Institute for Earth Physics stated that this was the strongest earthquake of 2024, originating from a depth of 140 kilometers. According to Digi24, the earthquake was felt in Bucharest and neighboring countries such as Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine. The tremors even reached Odesa, which is approximately 340 kilometers away from the epicenter.
