According to Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are expecting an increase in Russian assault operations near Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in the coming days. Voloshin warned that Russia’s goal is to gain control over Ukrainian logistical routes in the area.
Voloshin emphasized the strategic importance of this region, stating that if the Russian forces are able to break through, they could gain control over the logistical routes leading from Zaporizhzhia to eastern Ukraine, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces are currently holding both Donetsk Oblast and the southern part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. He added that the Russians will do everything in their power to take control of this region and cut off Ukrainian logistics.
According to Voloshin, assault operations are already underway and new ones are being prepared in this direction, particularly near Orikhiv and Robotyne. He stated that the enemy is transferring personnel, conducting reconnaissance, and providing logistical support, and that in a few days, they will likely intensify their assault actions.
The Orikhiv-Robotyne line in Zaporizhzhia Oblast is a crucial area due to its strategic location along key logistical routes. If the Russian forces gain control of this area, they could disrupt supply lines running from Zaporizhzhia to eastern Ukraine, potentially impacting Ukrainian military operations in Donetsk and southern Zaporizhzhia Oblasts. This makes the region a critical point of contention in the ongoing war.
