The Central Election Commission of Moldova tallied over 97% of ballots in the presidential election. The preliminary results show that the incumbent president Maia Sandu received 41,55% of the votes while the socialist-backed candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo secured 26.5%.
If these results are valid and no candidate exceeds the 50% threshold then a second round will be held on November 3, 2024.
