Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, met Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader the coalition “Strong Georgia”, and Tina Bokuchava the chairperson of “Unity National Movement” today at the Atoneli palace.
Separately, the President met with the leaders of each coalition. They did not comment about the details of their meeting with the media.
Khazaradze & Bokuchava already left Orbeliani Palace
Nika Gvaramia was also present to meet the President at the Orbeliani Palace before that.
Gvaramia stated after the meeting that his coalition is loyal to the “Georgian Charter”. European integration has been a choice made by the Georgians throughout history. “Those who prevent us from doing this, we must assist.”
“As signatories of the Charter, we have no problem supporting any cause, no matter what it is, I tell you truthfully. Our answer is, “Our signatures will be kept and our word will be fulfilled.”
The President is cautious about the political situation that has been created. Her speeches are more emotional and historical than political.
Salome Zurabishvili speaks about the Charter first, and the Charter is a major backbone of this choice, because it describes the best ways to achieve the main wish of the Georgian society: European integration. This is not just the wish of the current Georgian society. It is not only a desire expressed in the constitution of the First Republic and the society of that time. It is our historical choice, and it is the choice of our next generation. We should do this when we can bring the past and future together. We should remove people who hindered us or are hindering us. We should not change our historical choice.
According to available information, the president will hold consultations today with other opposition leaders, in addition the the opposition MPs mentioned above.
