The Ambassador of Georgia was summoned by the Lithuanian MFA to override the President’s veto of “Russian Law”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of reported that the Ambassador was summoned to the agency by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania after the Parliament of Georgia overrode the President Salome Zurabishvili’s veto of so-called “Foreign Influence” law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania stated that “a number of legislative initiatives incompatible to integration into the European Union have been introduced in the country. Anti-Western propaganda has been spread and mass protests followed by a government campaign of intimidation and violence against civil society representatives.”
In a statement, the agency states that Lithuania is deeply worried about these events. Together with its partners it is considering possible retaliatory actions in relation to Georgia.
The statement stated that Lithuania “continues to support the aspirations and goals of the Georgian people, who envision the country’s future relationship with the European Union, NATO and the European Union”, by ensuring free and fair .
