Iago Khvichia, a “Girchi”, MP speculated that “Lelo“, may have influenced Salome Zurabishvili‘s decision to defer the nomination of a candidate for Prime Minister until after elections.
Khvichia, in response to President Zurabishvili‘s change of position regarding the nomination of prime ministerial candidates, suggested that the President had either been pressured or was paid by “Lelo”, a party well-known for its financial resources. He noted that “Lelo”, a party known for its financial resources, had recently met the President. This raised suspicions of a financial deal.
“The President either got ‘hooked’, and was pulled back or they paid money. Lelo is able to solve her discomfort with money. It is hard to believe that she changed her mind without being paid.
Khvichia said that the opposition members, who are clamoring for the role of prime minister, would have not reacted positively had the President named a nonpolitical candidate such as a professor or scientist.
“Everyone in opposition dreams of being the Prime Minister, and if President Obama were to nominate a scientist, biologist, or physicist so many people would smile. “Nobody wanted that,” he said.
He also criticized “Lelo,” saying that their wealth and resource made it plausible that they had influenced the decision of the President, especially because the President’s choice to postpone nomination came after meeting with the party.
“How can I not think of money when you meet ‘Lelo,’ and you change you mind? …?” Khvichia also added.
Zurabishvili announced recently that she would appoint a neutral Prime Minister after the elections in order to ease tensions among the four parties who signed the “Georgian Charter.”
