SBU claims it foiled a terror attack in Kyiv and detained suspects

According to the statement the suspects planned on detonating improvised explosives at a crowded area in Ukraine’s capital in order to cause “the greatest number of civilian deaths” as well as to sow panic.

The SBU claimed the suspect was in communication with a Russian officer from the Russian occupied territory of . According to the law enforcement agency, she used two cell phone to connect a plastic explosive with a detonator, which she had retrieved from a hidden cache.
Before the planned terror attacks, the two were to complete a “test mission” and set ablaze several vehicles of in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Both of them were detained by the SBU when they attempted to set a vehicle on fire.
If the suspects are charged, they could face life imprisonment and confiscation of their property.
According to a draft prepared by , this year’s G7 chair, the leaders will issue a statement in October stating that “Russian sovereign will remain unmobilized until Russia ceases its aggression and pays the damages it has caused Ukraine.”
