Georgia has completed its local self-government elections. The polling stations closed at exactly 20:30. Now, election commissions have begun counting ballots.
In 73 constituencies, 3,743 polling booths were used to vote.
Today, voters elected 2,068 representatives of 64 city assemblies as well as 64 mayors.
The polling stations open at 07:00, and voting begins at 08:00.
Majoritarian members of City Councils must pass a 40% threshold to be able to win.
In all municipalities except Tbilisi the threshold for proportional elections is 3%. In the Tbilisi City Council the mandates are only distributed proportionally to those candidates who receive at least 2,5% of the votes.
In the local elections on October 2, voters elected mayors and councils of cities for a term of four years.
According to the CEC’s unified voter list, 3,513.884 voters are registered. As of 17:00 in Georgia, the voter participation rate was 41.35 %, or 1,446,218 votes.
