Ana Tsitlidze accuses supporters of “Georgian Dream”, of confiscating ID cards to opposition voters

Ana Tsitlidze is the chairwoman of the Zugdidi branch “United National Movement”. She has accused supporters of “Georgian Dream”, including those with criminal records, for confiscating ID cards from citizens who are against the party during the upcoming October 26.
Tsitlidze claims “Georgian Dream’ supporters are engaging these actions prevent citizens who oppose the government from voting. She named specific individuals who are allegedly involved in the scheme, including Avtandil Fifia and Zurab Djijelava. They use intimidation and threats in order to seize ID cards from in areas like Tsalenjikha Jvari and Martvili.
Tsitlidze said that over 200 ID cards had been confiscated by the in Zugdidi. However, many of them have been returned since her party intervened. She thanked the local residents for providing information about the activities and promised to continue fighting what she called a “illegal operation” conducted by the ruling parties.
“We have audio and video recordings of these individuals terrorizing the citizens in ,” Tsitlidze said. Tsitlidze stated that they had provided the evidence to monitoring and . She gave the people involved until 19:00 hours to return the confiscated cards, and warned them of consequences if not.
Tsitlidze has also highlighted the pressures that some citizens face, such as threats of losing their social benefits, being fired from their jobs, or receiving bribes for their ID cards. She claimed that these tactics are being used to suppress the opposition’s participation in the elections.
