After discussing the 10-year development plan of the country at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure in Georgia, the Prime Minister of Georgia called some of the journalists present “abusers.” He was responding to media protests about the violent events of July 5, the government‘s lack of response, and death of TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lahkarava.
If you don‘t stop this destruction, I and the entire government team won’t be able to communicate with you. Irakli Garibashvili said to reporters: “You are simple abusers.”
A number of journalists, activists and other people have called for Garibashvili to resign due to the violent events that occurred on July 5-6. They believe the Prime Minister incited the violence with his anti–Pride remarks.
