Over the past two and quarter years, we’ve been witnessing incredibly destructive war. A war that no one ever thought would happen again in Europe. Many were shocked by ‘s war on Ukraine. We, Georgians have stood by our brothers and sisters since the beginning of the war, and we will continue do this, because no one understands the pain of war or the price of peace better than us.
Shalva said that the in Ukraine served as a wake-up for many countries. It reminded them that peace was precious, indivisible and fragile.
“We are in a ring of fire, instability and conflict. Europe, a place of peace and stability that lasted for decades, has now become a hotbed of large scale armed conflict.
We warned our partners about the failure of the international system to achieve a just and lasting peace. The international system failed to prevent wars in and Ukraine.
Many of our partners were inspired by the awakening that followed II to find ways to prevent future tragedies.
We were the first ones to understand what the frozen conflict that is the result of a temporary ceasefire meant. A truce is not enough to guarantee lasting peace. The freezing of the conflict does not guarantee peace.
It is a good thing that we are looking for future solutions that must be based upon a just and lasting peaceful. These solutions need to be supported by a suitable international system which will make peace possible.
We must do our best to take our responsibility and work towards a better peace in support of Ukraine’s and independence to ensure a just resolution to this brutal conflict.
Shalvapapuashvili, the Speaker of Parliament, wished all of our Ukrainian brothers and sister a peaceful and just peace as well as a complete and rapid recovery of everything it has destroyed.
