A Ukrainian military source revealed to Kyodo News that around 2,000 North Korean soldiers are moving to western Russia near Ukraine‘s border after completing training. A day earlier, White House National Security spokesman John Kirby had said that at least 3,00 North Korean soldiers were transported on ships from North Korea’s Wonsan region ia Vladivostok, Russia’s Far East, between early and mid October 2024. The Ukrainian military source told Kyodo News the North Korean officers had entered Russia’s western Kursk area earlier this month. They were part of an advance team. This team of approximately 10 officers is preparing to receive soldiers in an area in which Ukraine is conducting cross border attacks. According to Kyodo News, Ukrainian authorities tracked the movements using satellite data, intercepted communication, and intelligence from the Russian military. The Russian Army also converts units of various branches into infantry.
