Maria Zakharova is the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. She said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has canceled its recommendation to Russian citizens to refrain from travelling to Georgia.
The Russian Ministry of Transport will soon comment on the restoration of direct flights from Russia to Georgia, as Zakharova has already mentioned.
“The decisions taken on behalf of the Russian Federation President regarding the restoration flights and introduction of a visa free regime for short term travel by Georgian citizens into Russia are in line with our principled approach of consistently simplifying communication and contacts between citizens of Russia, and Georgia despite an absence of diplomatic relations,” Zakharova stated.
The above decision was followed simultaneously by the Russian government‘s resumption and cancellation of direct flights into Georgia.
