At the end of the Bucharest Nine Summit, the leaders issued a statement. The statement emphasizes support for Georgia.
“We commend Republic of Moldova’s efforts to maintain stability, and advance reforms along its European path. We will continue to strengthen NATO’s tailored assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), Georgia and the Republic of Moldova. Recognizing that these partners are the most affected by Russia’s malign influence, the statement reads.
The document was signed by the Presidents of Poland Andrzej duda, Romania Klaus Iohannis, and Latvia Edgars Rinkevics.
The Bucharest Nine, or the Bucharest Nine as they are also known, gathered in Riga, the capital of Latvia, ahead of the important NATO Summit in Washington in July.
The B9 event included officials and leaders from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic as well as Estonia, Hungary and Latvia, Lithuania as well as Poland, Romania, Slovakia and NATO’s newest members, Sweden and Finland.
Stoltenberg will leave his position as head of the Alliance in October. He has increased calls to support Ukraine over the past few months.
