According to BBC Russian Service, citing Rosgvardia official, unknown assailants attacked an unidentified military convoy of the Russian National Guard in the suburbs near Grozny. At least one serviceman was killed and another wounded.

The attack took place around noon in the village of Petropavlovskaya, Grozny district. The Telegram channels of the Chechen opposition have published video footage that shows the aftermath of the attack. It shows a military vehicle with blood stains and bullet holes on the road. Also, the body of a deceased serviceman is shown.
Rosgvardia reports that Russian law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an investigation to locate and detain attackers.
The incident takes place in Chechnya. This region has a long history in resisting Russian rule, especially during the Russia-Chechnia Wars in the 1990s. In October 2022 Ukraine became the first country to recognize Ichkeria (Chechnya), as temporarily occupied territory by Russia, and condemn the genocide committed against the Chechens. The Ukrainian parliament‘s acknowledgement highlighted the ongoing tensions and contested status of the region.
