The Technical and Construction Supervision Agency issued a construction permit for two artificial peninsulas and an artificial island of “Ambassadori Batumi Island”.
The Technical and Construction Supervision Agency of Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has issued a building permit for two artificial islands and peninsulas in Batumi. The permit covers 102 hectares along the Black Sea coastline, including the construction of protective embankments. This decision was made based on the results of nearly 40 international and national studies, an approved environmental impact report by the National Environmental Agency and the expert opinions of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Bureau of Forensic Expertise about the structural stability of project’s hydrological components. These assessments were also supported by international invited experts.
Since September 2021, local and international experts have been involved in a comprehensive assessment of the structural stability and the modeling of two artificial peninsulas and an artificial island. The design of the two peninsulas and island was developed to ensure the sustainability of the project by the highly reputable company YUKSEL PROJE. This company has a track record for designing and operating two airports in the Black Sea (Ordu-Giresun Airport, and Trabzon Airport).
The British company ARUP was tasked with creating the detailed documentation and developing the development plan concept. ARUP is a globally recognized British firm, well-known for its innovative approach to urban planning and extensive experience.
Notably, 49% will be designated as public recreational areas including forest parks, hiking trails, sports fields and leisure spaces. The project area will include educational and healthcare facilities, hotels, apartments and residential buildings, villas and heliports. Throughout the entire development of the project, special attention will paid to minimizing environmental impacts.
The company has also developed up to 15 ha of land in accordance with the permit for construction of protective embankments that was received in September 2022. This is a record achievement both in terms of time and in terms of scale in fulfilling the privatization obligations of the state.
The Ambassador Group will simultaneously develop infrastructure for both peninsulas and the Island. The first phase will include the development of a park up to 4 hectares in size, an exhibition centre, an administrative building and a multifunctional facility of the highest standard.
