Irakli Garibashvili met Peter Spuhler. He is the owner and president of the board of directors of Stadler rail AG, a world-leading train manufacturer incorporated in Switzerland.
The meeting focused on the cooperation between Stadler Rail AG and the Government of Georgia. Future projects in Georgia have been discussed. Stadler Rail AG intends to explore the possibility of building a train manufacturing facility in Georgia. The plant will be primarily focused on the production and maintenance trains.
The Government of Georgia has stated that it will support the investment to the fullest extent.
At the meeting, the favorable business climate in Georgia as well as the current and future reforms in the country were highlighted. Also, the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), concluded with the EU and China, as well as other countries in the region, were mentioned. This allows Georgia to gain access a number of major markets. At the same, the role Georgia plays as a regional hub for transit was discussed and the prospects of its development were also noted.
