US reports North Korean troops in Russia’s Kursk Region

According to a government official, the Biden administration believes a contingent of North Korean soldiers is en route to Russia’s region in order to help counter a Ukrainian offensive launched in that region in August.
reports that although U.S. officials are yet to confirm South Korean reports claiming that North Korean soldiers would engage in direct combat, their estimates suggest the force could number thousands and be quickly assigned to combat roles.
The U.S. official made his remarks after National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said earlier on October 25, that some North Korean soldiers stationed in multiple training sites across eastern Russia would likely be sent to Kursk. However, the exact purpose of their deployment remains unclear.
