Bakuriani–2023 Para-skiing Championship among Girls is becoming a tradition in Georgia. The championship was part of the “Active Life is My Nature” project and was held in Bakuriani village. It was organized by the Youth Media Union with the general sponsorship from entertainment center Shangri-La Tbilisi.
The event, which began last year, brings together women with disabilities to compete in team and individual sports. The para-skiing competition brought together women with disabilities from Tbilisi to Marneuli and Gori.
This year, the team was augmented by women with breast cancer from “Europa Dona“. For the first time ever, the Nadzaladevi District administration was also involved in the project. They sent a team of three people to Bakuriani, giving them the opportunity to compete in the championship.
The championship was held with a very exciting environment. 18 girls with disabilities competed across different disciplines, giving it their all to reach their goals. The participants cheered on each other despite the competition.
Nino Sabashvili won the competition and will be taking the transitional trophy back to Kareli, Georgia, for a year. The second place was awarded to Tbilisi’s Natalya Gogisheli, who is totally blind. The third place was awarded to Tbilisi’s Fotina Khuroshvili, who is visually impaired. The winners received diplomas and medals.
