Giorgi Gakharia announced at a press conference that now is not the right time to despair. It is the right time to protect the votes of citizens of Georgia. We must all work together to use reasonable protests to protect the choices of citizens, the European future of Georgia and the institution of voting.
According to him the published results did not reflect the will and aspirations of the Georgians.
“I want to let you know that we are currently fighting everywhere to protect citizens’ will. We also fight with our international allies, and we fight wherever it is legal possible, to confirm the will of Georgian citizens objectively. It is not just a perception, but the facts confirm that Ivanishvili has violated the wills of Georgian citizens. The published results do not reflect the will or the Georgian people. We’ve been talking for a while about this, but it didn’t actually happen yesterday. We provided concrete evidence to our international partners including international monitoring missions and local international missions and, where possible, against the violations. In many cases, these violations were ongoing, and not just yesterday.
I can tell you without hesitation that there were systemic acts of voter intimidation, bribery and manipulation of ID cards and identity cards. The manipulation of ID cards, intimidation of public officials and pressure on the socially vulnerable was also a systematic act to steal election results and the will and will of the Georgians. Bidzina ivanishvili threatened to judge my team and I, young politicians, during the last few months. This had concrete consequences that were also reflected in our elections. But despite all of this, I would like to thank the representatives of our teams, observers, and supporters. We were able to show everyone, despite the unprecedented amount of pressure and the lack of financial resources, that the party, “For Georgia“, is and will remain a powerful voice in our country’s political life. Today, I want to tell all the Georgians that it is not time to give up hope, but to protect every vote.
We must all realize that “Georgian Dream”, despite the violence that was used to hold these elections yesterday, has never been so weak as it is today. “We should all apply to those forms reasonable protests, which will, first and foremost, aim to protect our citizens’ choices, the European future of the country, and the institution of election,” said Gakharia.
