The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 51 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight on October 27, 18 of which were intercepted in western Tambov Oblast.
Maxim Egorov, the Governor of the region, claimed that drones had struck the Michurinsky District at around 0 :40 am local time and caused a fire, which was quickly put out.
Astra Telegram reported that the fire broke at the Transneft Druzhba Control Station in the village of Novonikolskoye.
The Kyiv Independent was unable to verify the claims.
Transneft Druzhba, a subsidiary of Transneft, the largest state-controlled oil company in Russia. It operates the Druzhba Pipeline, built to funnel Russian Oil to European Countries via Belarus and Ukraine.
The Michurinsky Oil Refinery can also be found in the village of Novonikolskoye.
Ukraine has launched long-range drone attacks into Russian territory. These often target oil refineries and depots in order to disrupt fuel supplies for the Russian military, and to reduce Moscow’s fossil energy export revenues that are crucial to funding the war.
Russia also claimed that its forces had shot down 16 drones in Belgorod Oblast. Four drones each were shot down over Bryansk Lipetsk and Oryol Oblasts. Three drones were shot down over Voronezh Oblast and one was fired over Kursk Oblast. Other Ukrainian drones are said to have been shot down over Azov sea.

The Air Force reported that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 41 of the 80 Russian Shahed drones launched overnight. The statement stated that 32 drones were lost in Ukraine and one flew towards Belarus.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the casualties of the Russian missile attack on residential buildings and Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro, a city located in central-eastern Ukraine late on October 25, now total five dead and 21 injured.
