The results of the Georgian elections indicate that voters understand the importance to maintain an independent course, and cooperation with neighbors, including Russia – said Sergey Lebedev, Secretary General of CIS.
“The results of these elections speak for themselves. People understand the importance of maintaining a course that is independent and reflects the interests of Georgian nation. There is no doubt about the fact that cooperation with neighbors in the South Caucasus and the northern neighbors – primarily, the Russian Federation – meets the interests and needs of the Georgians,” Lebedev told journalists in a discussion.
According to him, anyone who denies the truth or deliberately distorts it is far from reality.
“I can’t say without satisfaction that the statements made by “Georgian Dream“, that they were ready to restore good neighborly relations with Russia, and other CIS nations and that they now opposed the sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus – you can’t but rejoice because this Georgia meets peoples interests”, said the Secretary-General of the CIS.
