At a press conference, a question was asked about whether the election had been stolen or not. My personal answer was that it was bought. Oleksiy Gontcharenko, Ukrainian Rada deputy, told journalists in Tbilisi that this is his personal answer because he saw it with his own eyes.
“I don’t believe we can call this a fair and free election.” My personal position is that it was not a free and fair election. But now, many of my colleagues are saying the same thing. When I see that the “Georgian Dream”, the ruling party, has 94 percent of the vote in the polling stations, my only question is: Why not 194 percent instead? This is a very strange thing. It is like a return of the USSR and not a result of a democracy,” said Goncharenko.
According to him the ruling party bought election results.
“The head of the delegaion of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe stated clearly that we witnessed voter intimidation and a very harsh climatic electoral, especially in rural regions, where it was hard for voters to express their opinions freely. This is all very alarming. My personal answer to the question of whether or not the election was stolen is that it was bought. This is my answer, because I saw it with my own two eyes. The ruling party in rural regions bought the results. You can see that the results of the districts in the villages range from 70 to 80-90 per cent. We do not believe this,” said Goncharenko.
