According to ISW, geolocated footage shows Russian troops raising their flag above two key administrative buildings located in eastern Ukraine while Ukrainian forces advance in multiple areas in Kursk Oblast.
According to the October 27 report of the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces advanced within the Kursk oblast salient and Russian forces captured key locations in eastern Ukraine.
Geolocated footage from the 26th October confirms Ukrainian advancements southwest of Olgovka, and east of Kolmakov, in the Kursk Oblast.
Ukrainian forces began their offensive in Russia‘s Kursk Oblast, on 6 August. They reportedly wanted to destabilize Russian defences by forcing them away from critical fronts within Ukraine. Since then, Ukrainian troops have allegedly taken over 1,300 square kilometers.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported Ukrainian attack “southeast of Korenevo, near Zeleny Shlyakh; Novoivanvoka; Daryino; Nizhny Klin; Pogrebki and NikolaevoDaryino near Plekhovo”
The Russian forces have made a breakthrough at Selydove. Video footage shows Russian troops raising the flag over the City Council Building.
The report states that “Several Russian milbloggers have claimed that Russian forces have seized and are clearing Selydove,” though ISW notes that it has not confirmed Russian presence in Selydove’s western part.
Russian forces have made progress in Bohoyavlenka, in the direction of Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast. Geolocated footage, published on 27th October, shows a Russian soldier hoisting the flag of the 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade above central Bohoyavlenka.
Russian Telegram channel TASS cited Russian security forces as saying that “Ukrainian Forces have withdrawn from the majority of their positions in Bohoyavlenka.”
ISW reported that “Elements from the Russian 137th Airborne regiment are operating near Lyubimovka”, while “elements from the 11th VDV Brigade reportedly operate near Cherkasskaya Konopelka.”
