Norway’s PM announces a new 500-million euro aid package for Ukraine

The Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said on Oct. 28, that Norway would provide Ukraine with a new $500 million package, of which more than half will be allocated to military assistance. Several Nordic countries including Iceland, Norway, Finland and have agreed to provide Ukraine defense support, including weapons production and assistance in preparing the winter. Since the beginning of Russia’ full scale invasion in February 2022, the Nordic countries have provided Ukraine more than 20 billion euro ($21 billion) worth of military, financial and humanitarian assistance. Norway is ranked 12th globally in terms of aid provided to Ukraine. According to the Kiel Institute’s Ukraine Support Tracker, Norway has provided 2.8 billion euro ($.1 billion) of humanitarian, financial and military assistance.
