In a high-stakes battle, Ukraine’s 79th Brigade destroyed several Russian armored vehicles, including a BMPT Terminator, thwarting Russian attempts to secure key routes in the Donetsk Oblast.
According to the 79th Separated Air Assault Brigade of Ukraine, Ukraine’s paratroopers destroyed a dozen Russian military vehicles, including a rare BMPT “Terminator” tank support combat vehicle on the Kurakhiv Front.
Orest Drymalovskyi was the spokesperson for the brigade and he stated that this route is crucial for the Russian occupiers, as it leads directly to the city of Kurakhove, which is a major settlement in the Donetsk oblast.
The Russians are also pushing towards the village of Kostyantynivka, in this area. They want to hold the road between Marinka and the occupied Vuhledar by strengthening their defenses.
According to Militarnyi, Ukraine’s 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade stated that the Tavria parachutists repelled a Russian assault in which invaders used mechanized units and heavy equipment, as well as infantry groups mounted on motorcycles, for rapid attacks.
“The Russians will try to overwhelm the 79th Brigade with sheer numbers.” The Russians launched a massive assault this time with 13 armored vehicle carrying infantry, 4 tanks, a BMPT Terminator’ and four motorcycles, Ukraine’s paratroopers reported.
The brigade’s intelligence, however, detected Russian armor movements in time and struck it with artillery and strike drones.
The 79th Brigade soldiers killed 25 Russian soldiers, and wounded 23 more. The 79th Brigade also destroyed nine armored cars, two tanks and four motorcycles. Two other armored cars were damaged.
The Russians used the rare BMPT Terminator, an armored fighting vehicles. Its primary purpose is to lead attacks alongside tanks, and suppress infantry using dense fire from automatic guns.
The parachutists were able to stop the vehicle with drones targeting the engine-transmission area despite being protected by ‘anti-drone‘ grids.
The 79th Brigade has destroyed a “Terminator” before. The paratroopers had previously destroyed another “Terminator” in July, during one of the largest assaults by the enemy who deployed more than 60 armored cars.
