Croatia has provided Ukraine over 300 million Euros ($330 million) of assistance since the full-scale invasion began, including 11 defence packages. In early September, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the 12th package of aid from an allied nation.
According to the memorandum, Croatia has committed itself to providing 30 M-84 tanks, 30 M-80 infantry combat vehicles, spare parts and ammunition in exchange for financial resources to purchase up to fifty Leopard 2A8 tank.
The price of the new Leopard 2A8s is reduced by the amount that Germany will pay Croatia to transfer its equipment to Ukraine.
Anusic expressed the hope that this initiative will begin “very soon.”
“All other details will become known after the contract has been signed.” The statement stated that this model of procurement would help Ukraine fight Russian aggression.
On October 9, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Croatian Premier Andrej Plenkovic inked a bilateral agreement for support and cooperation.
