A HUR source told The Kyiv Independent that the Ukrainian resistance and Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR), sabotaged the Berdiansk railway bridge, which is located in the occupied city.
Sources say that the bridge between the Vodokanal utility building and the car wash on Skhidnyi Avenue has been blown up by several explosions over the night.
Since early 2022, Russia has occupied the port city of Berdiansk located in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
The city is located on the coast of the Azov sea and is a major transport hub for the occupying authorities. They use it to ship grain and other resources looted from occupied Ukraine.
Ukrinform reported that a military intelligence source said the destruction of the bridge paralyzed Russia’s railway connection to Berdiansk. This, according to reports, prevents Moscow’s forces from supplying fuel and weapons via railway to the occupied city.
Telegram also reported explosions at the bridge by exiled local officials.
The exiled Berdiansk military administration stated that preliminary information indicated that the railway bridge connecting the Vodokanal Building and the car wash at Skhidnyi Avenue had been blown up.
The Russian state media dismissed reports of the explosions as a “blatant campaign of disinformation,” linking the blasts with exercises by Russian forces in the town and claiming that Berdiansk’s bridges are intact.
Ukrinform’s source refuted the claims made by Russian media, citing the lack of visual proof.
The Kyiv Independent was unable to verify the claims as neither Ukraine or Russia provided footage of bridge after the supposed explosions.
