After the 2024 parliamentary election, which has been widely labelled as ‘rigged,’ the opposition leaders and the President Salome Zurabishvili have announced a demonstration at 19:00 today on Rustaveli Avenue. They are calling on all citizens join the effort. The rally is intended to be a symbolic protest against the election results, and to demand accountability. Tbilisi City Hall has been in conflict with the opposition, as it has not issued a permit to set up the stage outside the Parliament building.
Despite the setback, opposition leaders have promised that the rally will still go on without a stage. The opposition is committed to expressing concerns of the public and pressing the ruling party for more accountability and integrity.
