During President Zelenskyy’s first Iceland visit, nearly 90 Nordic officials will discuss Ukraine’s “victory plans” and military assistance.
The fourth Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit was the occasion of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy‘s first visit to Iceland.
The Ukrainian president will meet with Iceland’s president and parliamentarians and hold bilateral talks with the Prime Ministers of Iceland, Denmark Norway, Finland and Sweden.
Zelenskyy said on X that the discussion would focus on the Victory Plan, and areas where Ukraine can “get maximum results” from its cooperation with its allies.
This includes funding Ukrainian weapons production, long-range capability, winterization efforts and maritime security. It also includes a restriction on Russia‘s Shadow Fleet, enhancement of defense aid, and provision of equipment and training for Ukrainian forces.
The Nordic Leaders’ Summit is expected to attract nearly 90 participants, including foreign ministers, prime ministers, members and invited guests.
Ukraine has proposed to the states of Northern Europe a new initiative titled the Northern Brigade. The project proposes that each Nordic country arm and prepare one Ukrainian battalion.
