Levan Ioseliani, public defender, visited the third president of Georgia Mikheil Sakaashvili as well as 13 other prisoners being treated at VivaMedi Clinic.
“The former President and I spoke for almost an hour about various topics.
I am not a medical doctor, and I do not possess the necessary qualifications to discuss the specifics of his condition. This is the domain of specialists.
I assured him, however, that all of the monitoring mechanisms, including the Medical Council, that the Public Defender has will be maintained, and that I wouldn’t interfere with the process. I told him that he would continue to be monitored by the Public Defender within the scope of the Public Defender’s mandate.
The condition of the other prisoners in this clinic is important, too. The Public Defender will study their specific needs in the future.
The Public Defender said, “I wish all prisoners good health and a quick release.”
