It is not a European Value to call for repeal of the LGBT Law. We know a Europe that is different! We will not consider it a “value” if it interferes temporarily with something. We would rather delay something by 2-3 years but we will not repeal the law against LGBT propagandizing! Mamuka Mamdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the “Georgian Dream”, said this at today’s Press Conference when discussing European integration.
Mdinaradze said that although it was late, Georgia still received the candidate status and will not give up these real, national, and traditional values.
“We will continue our march towards Europe in the same way as before. We are moving in the same direction as when we signed and implemented the association agreement.
After a long fight, we got the candidate status! Even then, we heard a series of anti-Georgian remarks. In 1 year, justice was delayed and we were granted candidate status.
As for values, calling for the repeal of the LGBT laws is not a European Value. We want a new Europe. We know of a new Europe. I am certain that the conservative forces in Europe will wake up and realize that national values, traditional Christian values, will be even more valued by many European countries because of the true mentality of the country. No one calls Georgia to cancel “Transparency Law”, or the law against LGBT propagandizing, which we won’t do. We will never consider LGBT propaganda as a European value if someone believes it. We will not consider it, even if it temporarily interferes with something. We would rather delay something by 2-3 years but we will not repeal the law against LGBT propagandists!
We will continue to fight for justice over the next 2-5 years. But we will never give up our national and traditional values. We will not sacrifice the future of our future generations to our own political and mercantile-political goals. “Everyone thought it would be hard, but we got candidate status so we will become an official member of the European Family,” said Mdinaradze.
