Through a new partnership, the Ukrainian defense industry will receive components and technology transfer for missile production.
Herman Smetanin, Ukraine’s Minister of Strategic Industries, announced that Belgian firm Thales had signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with a Ukrainian Defense Enterprise to produce anti-drone rockets jointly.
Ukraine is working to increase its domestic military production capability to better counter Russian aggression. Major defense partnerships, including agreements with German Rheinmetall and British BAE Systems, Swedish Saab, and American Lockheed Martin, have already been established.
These partnerships aim at establishing joint production facilities in Ukraine to help meet immediate defense requirements and develop long-term local manufacturing capacity.
Smetanin said that this agreement envisages the production of missiles for countering Russian UAVs.
Smetanin added, “We expect this cooperation will expand even further to include technology transfers and components for these weapons.”
According to the Minister’s statement the partnership with Belgian company will enhance critical infrastructure protection from Russian drones and strengthen Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex.
