Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, dismissed reports that Moscow is in talks with Kyiv to stop strikes on Ukraine’s infrastructure for energy as “information leaks”, unrelated to the reality. Russian Interfax reported this on 30 October.
Peskov told journalists that “there are a lot leaks right now, which have nothing to do the reality.”
Peskov responded in response to reports that Russia, Ukraine and Qatar were holding talks through Qatar about ending the attacks on Ukraine’s grid of energy.
According to reports, negotiations had already begun. According to a senior Ukrainian official, the FT reported that both sides had already reduced the frequency in recent weeks of attacks on energy infrastructure under an agreement between their intelligence services.
Former senior Kremlin officials familiar with the talks said that Putin was unlikely to agree to an agreement as long as the Ukrainian forces continue to control approximately 600 square kilometers in the Kursk Oblast.
Peskov rejected the claim firmly, calling it “information leaks” that had no connection with facts.
