The Ukrainian foreign minister has asked for permission to strike Russian drone sites after attacks increased to an average 62 per day during October.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on 2 October that Russia increased its drone strikes on Ukraine in October. It deployed 1,908 Iranian-made Shahed Drones, compared to only 1,331 in Septembre.
The average number of drone attacks per day increased from 44 in September, to 62 in October – a 43% rise.
Overnight, on 2 November, Russia launched 71 Shahed-drones against Kyiv and several other cities. The debris from the Russian aircraft caused fires in Kyiv and damaged cars and buildings.
Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that “Russia is intensifying their terror”.
Sybiha, in response to the escalating attacks on Ukraine, called for the removal of restrictions on Ukraine’s capability to strike drone bases and storage sites within Russia.
Despite Ukraine’s long-running appeals in the face of escalating Russian attacks, Western nations including the US and UK continue to restrict their use of long-range weapons such as ATACMS missiles and Storm Shadow missiles, reportedly, to avoid further escalation.
