The US Ambassador was questioned about a statement by the Chairperson of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, who stated in a speech on visa policy that the ensemble Martve had been denied a visa for the US.

We welcome thousands of Georgians every year to the United States, including cultural exchanges and many exchange programs that have been so important to the partnership between the United States of America and Georgia.
“Just last month, we granted visas to a group of thirty Tbilisi State Ballet performers to tour the United States. Just last week, we granted visas to a Georgian group of dancers and musicians who will perform at the Library of Congress in celebration of Georgia’s Independence Day.
“Sometimes, people think they deserve special treatment, and don’t want to go through the necessary steps. But all the information about getting a visa can be found online, and we offer recommendations to expedite the process, so that people can get their visas the fastest possible. If people follow the rules and advice they are usually granted a visa, if they are eligible. It’s a simple truth. “Those are the facts,” added she.
