According to GEOSTAT‘s 2023 import statistics, packaged medicines accounted for 15.4 billion dollars worth of Georgian imports. The third-ranked item in the list of imported goods is pharmaceutical goods, with a 3.5% share.
Since years, Turkey has been the largest importer of medicines to Georgia. In 2023, Turkey held a 28.1% market share for packaged medicines. The cost of buying medicines from Turkey increased by 108.6% last year.
Statistics on the importation of medicines from Turkey over the last five years
In 2019 – 83.7 million dollars, 1 285 tons;
In 2020 – 45.9 million dollars, 528 tons;
In 2021 – 46.4 million dollars, 496 tons;
In 2022 – 73.2 million dollars, 1,048 tons;
In 2023 – 153 million dollars, 3 236 tons.
