Shalva Papuashvili is the Speaker of Parliament of Georgia. He responded to the fact the Tetritskaro Court Confidentiality was confirmed.
Papuashvili stated that all 23 cases will be sent to the appeal court, and the court will render a final ruling.
“You know Saya was the complaintant in this case. It is important to note that no complaint regarding this matter was filed on election day. We didn’t hear an announcement, but they remembered it on the fifth day. This is what they said when all their excuses had been answered. No specific violation was recorded. Not even at the trial. As long as I tracked a specific voter or citizen whose complaint was behind it, nothing like that happened. They appealed everywhere to be cut. Twenty-two of the 23 courts or judges that heard the appeals in different districts found that confidentiality had not been violated. One judge, however, found that confidentiality had been violated. All 23 will be sent to the Court of Appeals where the court will render the final decision. 22 judges and their decisions, which see the issue differently than yesterday’s judge, counterbalance the fact that one judge interpreted it in this manner yesterday. This is also a matter of common sense. If we follow this logic that something like this would be considered a breach in secrecy then the presidential election of Moldova, the parliamentary election of Lithuania, Poland, and other countries, should be annulled. If we follow this logic, then we can see they don’t use envelopes either. They usually take out a vote and throw it into a lined, semi-transparent or transparent box,” Papuashvili stated.
Papuashvili also called on the opposition, whether they liked it or not, to create a judicial system.
“I ask the opposition to do one thing: form on the court. Either they like it or not. It’s either fair or unfair. When the decision is beneficial to them, they will bring out a specific person as a hero. If they don’t, they will bring out political decision-makers”, – stated Papuashvili.
As an information, the Tetritskaro Court confirmed the violation of the vote secrecy. Judge Vladimer Khuchua settled the lawsuit filed by GYLA. Khuchua explained that the court believes unequivocally that the voter had no right to vote. According to him it should be possible, once and forever, to manage the electoral environment and administration so that any manipulation or illegal interference is excluded, and not dependent on anyone’s goodwill.
