According to Nona Qurdovanidze of the “Young Lawyers Association”, the schedule for the consideration of cases relating to the violation the secrecy surrounding the parliamentary election of October 26, 2020 “has changed unexpectedly”.
Kurdovanidze wrote on her Facebook page that the Court of Appeal of Kutaisi consolidated all complaints into a single case and they had not received a response from the Court of Appeal of Tbilisi.
Kurdovanidze explains that the unification of cases is due to the decision taken yesterday by the Tetritskaro Court judge.
The schedule for the consideration of cases involving violations of confidentiality has suddenly been changed. Today we had sessions scheduled in both the Kutaisi Court of Appeal as well as the Tbilisi Court of Appeal. Yesterday, these cases had been assigned to different judges, and therefore, different compositions. We were informed today, just before the start of proceedings, that all appeals filed to the Kutaisi Court of Appeal would be combined into a single case.
In such a case, it was more likely that someone would disagree with the Tetritskaro precedent or write a different opinion if the cases were separated. After the Tetritskaro decision, it seems that the management of court was arranged in a different way. The Kutaisi Court of Appeal is scheduled to begin at 16:00.
We are awaiting confirmation from the Tbilisi Court of Appeals as to whether all the Eastern Georgia election disputes will be merged in one case,” Qurdovanidze said.
