The European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction launched its first project of bilateral technical cooperation with Georgia on 3 May. The project aims to improve national responses to drug-related threats in health and security. The EMCDDA4Georgia Project (EMCDDA4GE), will focus primarily in the areas of knowledge transfer and capacity building, including drug monitoring, reporting and prevention.
The new project will familiarize the Georgian partners of the Agency with the EU Drug Information System and its methodologies and instruments, as well transfer the best practices for interventions. The project will also support the newly created National Drug Observatory.
EMCDDA4GE is being implemented under the supervision and in close collaboration with the European Commission‘s (DG NEAR, DG HOME), and the European External Action Service.
