Zelensky calls Trump to congratulate on his election victory

Zelensky posted on social media that he had congratulated Donald Trump for his victory in the presidential election.
Zelensky wrote: “I had a great phone conversation with President Trump, and congratulated on his historic and decisive win — a result that was made possible by his outstanding campaign.”
“We agreed to keep a close dialogue and enhance our cooperation. “A strong and unwavering leader is essential for the peace and security of the world,” Zelensky said.
On Nov. 5, former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris by a large margin. Trump will now be inaugurated as president-elect on Jan. 20, 2020.
Zelensky and Trump did not provide any additional details about the call.
Trump has repeatedly criticized the Ukrainian President while on the campaign trail.
Trump has blamed Zelensky and for the Russian invasion of Ukraine without mentioning Putin. He also referred to Zelensky’s role as a “salesman”, for securing too much assistance, which Trump considered excessive.
Zelensky had congratulated Trump via social media immediately after the election results. He expressed his hope for “strong bipartisan US support for Ukraine.”
In his evening speech, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed appreciation for the United States’ strong support of Ukraine during the full-scale conflict, and urged President-elect Donald Trump maintain strong relationships with the embattled nation.

Zelensky’s relationship with Trump is complicated.
