EXPRO, a consulting company that specializes in exploration and production, reported on its website Nov. 6 that natural gas production in Ukraine increased in October to the highest level ever since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
According to EXPRO calculations, gross natural-gas production increased by 2.3% in October 2020 compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.66 billion cubic meters, which is the highest level since the month of January 2022.
The daily production rate of gas in Ukraine also increased by 1.3% this year.
Ukraine, which was once heavily dependent on Russian natural gas, successfully switched to other suppliers and expanded its production in the past decade. The country used its own gas to get through the winter of last year for the first time ever.
EXPRO estimates natural gas production in Ukraine could increase by 2.2%, or 420 millions cubic meters, to 19,1 billion cubic metres in 2024.
As the agreement with Russia expires at the end this year, Ukraine will no longer allow Russian gas to be transported through its pipelines into the EU. Instead, it will transfer Azeri Gas.
