The civic movement For Freedom which is a part of the local observer missions My Vote has been fined 3,000 GEL (1100 USD), for displaying a banner that read “Russian Dream Stole Elections” on the wall of their office building.
The local government in Ozurgeti (a town located in western Georgia) said that the banner hanging was “illegal advertisement”.
Media sources claim that the members of the Observer Movement were fined individually 1500 GEL (550 USD), two days ago, for this banner.
“With this banner, we are protesting the stolen elections…It is completely absurd to claim that this is an advertising for something…This is repression, it is an attempt to rob people of their right to freedom of expression,” Otar Revishvili told the media.
He also said the movement would not be paying the fine and will fight the decision at court.
