According to a report from the , Russian forces advanced in eastern Ukraine on 6 November. The ongoing is said to have led to gains near Kupiansk in , Svatove in Oblast, Pokrovsk and Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast.
Russia continues to focus on Pokrovsk in its efforts to capture the remaining areas of Donetsk Oblast. Russia continues to make gains despite heavy losses as it uses the “meat attack” frontal attack tactics. Zelenskyy reported that Russian forces outnumbered by 8:1 in certain areas, forcing retreats.
The ISW report noted that Russian forces advanced along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, securing positions southeast of Kupiansk in Oblast and west of Luhansk Oblast’ Svatove. Geolocated footage released on 6 November showed Russian troops moving through fields near Kolisnykivka to the southeast of Kupiansk and advancing in northeastern Pershotravneve west of Svatove.
According to reports, have made progress in the Pokrovsk region. Footage shows Russians making advances southeast of Novooleksiivka near Pokrovsk. ISW reports that Russian personnel from 114th Motorized Rifle Brigade have raised the Russian flag on a building in Stepanivka of Kurakhove to mark the capture of this settlement. ISW reported that Russian forces had conducted two platoon sized mechanized attacks, leading to further advancements northeast of Vuhledar and capturing positions in Antonivka, east of Bohoyavlenka.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed that Russian forces have gained additional gains in Vuhledar. They claim to have taken control of Yasna Polyana, north of Vuhledar and Antonivka northeast of the city. ISW reports confirm, however, that Russian forces continued offensive operation across all other sectors of the city on 6 November. However, no further advances were documented.
