EnergoPro Georgia predicts a significant rise in electricity tariffs. The company distributes information about it and notes that the current price set on January 1, 2018 has been unable to cover the costs of electricity purchases or other dramatically increased fees for a long time.
“We can conclude that a rise in the consumer tariff is unfortunately necessary. The current tariff, which was set on January 1, 2018 has been unable to cover the cost of electricity or other significantly increased charges for a long time. Since 10 months, we’ve been in a severe crisis of finances. We had to abandon all our development plans, drastically reduce our investment projects, and even face problems with the financing of the salaries fund. Despite the difficulties, the founding group and banking sector helped us to meet our obligations, and retain all of our employees. A reduction in investment projects has a negative effect on the quality of services and the continuity of power supply, said Mikheil Botsvadze, CEO of the company.
In response to the future tariff, he said that the increase in tariff should not be viewed as a company’s request.
“We all understand the sensitivity and social aspect of this issue. A significant increase in tariffs would also lead to an increased risk of debts that are problematic or other risks. If the company cannot fully fund the electricity costs and the necessary investment projects, it will simply cease to exist. The issue of electricity will be raised and this will damage the interests of users,” he continued.
