The Ukrainian leader will focus on strengthening his relationship with Trump in the coming weeks to ensure continued aid during the Russo Ukrainian war.
El Pais has confirmed that sources in the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have launched a “diplomatic offense” to convince Donald Trump, the US President-elect, to continue to provide military and financial support to Ukraine‘s war against Russia.
Zelenskyy fears that Trump may fulfill his promise to end the multi-billion dollar US assistance to Ukraine once he assumes office in January 2025. El Pais reports that the Ukrainian leader will be prioritizing building closer ties to Trump in the next few weeks in order to persuade the new US President to continue the vital assistance amid the ongoing Russo Ukrainian war.
Zelenskyy is pushing for diplomatic action because he believes Trump’s rhetoric as a presidential candidate may be different from his actions as president.
