Yuriy Fedorenko is the commander of the “Achilles”, battalion, of Ukraine’s 92nd separate attack brigade. He expressed confidence that Russian occupiers would not be able to capture the city of Kupiansk, in the Kharkiv Region, before the end the year, despite the ongoing efforts and pressure.
Yurii Fedorenko of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade told RBC-Ukraine that it is unlikely that Russian soldiers will capture the city Kupiansk, in Kharkiv Oblast, before the New Years.
Kupiansk is a city located in Kharkiv Oblast in Ukraine. It plays a vital role in the Russian war because of its strategic importance as an important railroad junction, and its proximity to key military operations. Kupiansk, located on the Oskil River is a key logistical hub and administrative center for both Ukrainians and Russians. Kupiansk’s situation is deteriorating as Russian forces intensify their bombardment on the city and its surrounding areas. The Ukrainian troops have resisted these attacks but the pressure has increased, leading to an evacuation of civilians.
“In early November the Russians failed their mission. The enemy’s goal is to occupy Kupiansk completely. Will they be able achieve this by the year’s end? Fedorenko said, “In my opinion, no.”
According to him, a lot depends on the availability of weapons and ammunition.
“At the moment, there are not enough weapons and ammunition.” The Russians have weapons to strike. The commander of the Ukrainian army explained that it depends on the additional forces and resources that the enemy will use to replenish their losses in artillery and armored vehicles.
Andrii Besedin (Head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration) had earlier stated that the Russian military were already 2,5-3 kilometers from the city Kupiansk. The evacuation of the city continues as the Russian occupiers continue their pressure on the Kharkiv Front.
