On social , Mariupol’s Mayor’s Advisor Petro Andreichenko reported that a Russian air defence base was attacked in the occupied Mariupol overnight on 10/11 along the Mariupol Airport-Berdianske line.
Mariupol, the strategic Ukrainian port on the Sea of Azov fell to Russian forces after a devastating 2022 siege. The strategic importance of the city is based on its position as an industrial center, and its potential role in creating a landbridge between Russia and Crimea. The infrastructure of the city was destroyed by the siege. It is estimated that up to 90 percent of residential buildings were destroyed or damaged. Residents of Mariupol continue to wait until the city is liberated, despite the dire rights situation.
“Mariupol. At 11:00 pm, the air defence base along the Mariupol airport – Berdianske road was attacked. At least four explosions could be heard. A fire was reported after enemy were activated. “Preliminary reports indicate one unit has been hit,” he wrote.
Denys Shmyhal, the Ukrainian Prime Minister, claimed earlier that Russian forces had exported more than 180,000 tons (or 1.8 million metric tons) of stolen via the port of Mariupol between 2024 and 2025.
