Poland has provided military aid to Ukraine worth $3,5 Billion, including 350 tanks. This is the largest transfer of heavy machinery among allies.
According to the Office for the President of Poland (OPP), Poland is the largest contributor of aid to Ukraine in relation to its GDP. The total amount of support amounts to 4.91%.
The report comes in the wake of recent statements by Polish President Andrzej duda that Poland could not maintain its previous levels of military assistance to Ukraine.
According to the report the total assistance from Poland amounts to 4.91% GDP. Of this, 0.71% goes to military assistance for Ukraine, and 4.2% is allocated to refugee assistance.
“When everyone was afraid or hesitant, when the Germans sent helmets, we sent tanks,” said President Andrzej duda in an August 2024 interview with Kanal Zero.
According to reports, Poland has provided over $3,5 billion in military assistance to Ukraine. Poland has transferred around 1,000 pieces of heavy military equipment, such as tanks, armored vehicles, and other military vehicles.
Duda said earlier that Poland sent 240 tank to Ukraine, specifically those that the Ukrainian army can operate. Documentation shows that Poland provided more than 350 tanks in total. This includes 14 modern Leopard 2A4 tank, 60 PT91 tanks, and 280 vehicles of the T72 series.
The air support package includes 12 Mi-24 helicopters and 14 MiG-29 jet fighters. The first fighters will be delivered in March 2023.
Poland has also provided training to approximately 25,000 Ukrainian troops, of which 14,500 were trained as part of the EUMAM mission. The country has provided over 100 million pieces ammunition and 20,000 Starlink sets, with ongoing maintenance.
In a recent discussion with leaders from the western part Ukraine, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Poland had failed to deliver MiG fighter jets despite previous agreements.
